UPCYCLED SNEAKERS MADE OF OCEAN PLASTICS

Adidas just released a Sneaker made of plastics polluting the oceans! That is one of the coolest ways of using upcycling and shows a way of combining sustainability, fairness towards mother earth and coolness. All in the sense of: SHOULD BE A BETTER WORLD.

The sneaker itself features a white Primeknit upper constructed of 95 percent ocean plastic, white BOOST sole, and green accents on the heel. The laces, heel cap, and sock liner were made from materials retrieved by Parley during coastal operations in the Maldives.

adidas previously tapped the ocean pollution awareness organization for an Ultra Boost and Pure Boost X last month, but the Uncaged Parley will be the first to go to mass-production, with 7,000 pairs slated for public sale. That number is just a drop in the ocean, however, as adidas aims to produce 1 million pairs by the end of 2017, according to CEO Eric Liedtke.
